Heya

Thought id say hi im Sam currently in the market for a evo IX but completely stuck which one to get as i see GT MR ralliant and few others i think kinda after what you call the "Top Spec" version with any nice extras as i dont fancy having to purchase them later on.

And could anyone tell me the difference's between 4G63 block and head compared to Mivec which ever engine that is not rly sure just seen it advertise on someones advert and was wondering what the main differences is pros cons etc

The Evo 4-9 all basicly run the same engine (4g63) however the 4 engine suffers with a couple of issue's.

The Evo 5 onwards were a bit better.

Anyway your question: The Evo 8MR and 9 bottom end is very very similar, only minor changes between them, and there both as strong as eachother.

The Mivec is fitted on the Evo 9, and it's just variable valve timing on the inlet cam, it can be used to spool the turbo up a little quicker, but other than that, there is no real gains (or cons to it).

The top spec would be the IX MR FQ360 but there was a very limited supply of them, so they tend to hold there money well.

That said it's only the "top spec" if your wanting the long name tag and the higher stock powered car.

As the real Top Spec Evo IX was the GT model

This was never released officially in the uk but there are plenty out there for sale, they have the same seats as the GSR version of the 9, and all the other nice bits, with the exception of only have 280(ish) bhp, a 5 speed gearbox (stronger) and an RS rear diff (stronger, and more reliable).

Welcome to the forum,all that's said above is true,but I have an e8 mr 340 n its awsome,despite having a weaker box ect,I havnt noticed anything wrong but then I suppose it depends on how well u look after them aswel.happy postin,hope u enjoy the forum
