HELP Battery keeps Dieing

Has anybody got any idea as to why the battery on my Evo 6 keeps dieing.... its got a new alarm as I thought it was that, its not. Its not age of battery as its new. There isnt anything obvious thats taking the power. Is there any way in tracing this fault?

How often is it dying, how often do you use the car and what length drives in general. Mine suffers with not being driven long enough sometimes so not putting as much charge as needed back in the battery so I condition it every few weeks for a few hours

This is a common thing with the Evo VI!!! I always discount mine if i am not using the car for a period longer than 24hrs!

I disconnect mine too if to be left for more then 2 days. Not sure about the UK spec mines the import very small battery and dies in 8 days if left connected.
Some say you can have a charger connected to it and leave it.

check your charging rate too, could be your alternator possibly.

First thing to check is the charge being given from the alternator.

Had this myself on my 5 and recharge provided was tested and fine. I have aftermarket Cobra alarm and a tracker and battery would die after 5 days. Coughed up £100 for a top of the range battery, never had the problem since.

Ive charged it & disconnected it for now but think im going for a bigger battery & relocate to the boot.

Unfortunately it's a myth that a bigger battery is better, one that applies to other things in life! Lol. Motorsport batteries for example are a third the size of a standard car battery to save on weight and space despite giving same power but obviously cost an awful lot more. Battery relocation is something I originally wanted to do but it's quite a lot of hassle.

I have a feeling it could be the stereo causing the issue, looking into it. As for relocation, its only a case of running a power lead from battery in boot to under bonnet & joining the wires.....

If it's been wired permanently to live that is a good starting point.

I've been on the MLR for years - found it a wealth of information. I'm no expert on anything so the more forums offering help the better lol [emoji6]

I've killed my battery over the winter!

It's the cold that finishes any weak batteries, I made double sure by not starting the car often enough :disgusted:

Just gonna get a new race battery for the summer :twisted: n trickle charger.

I relocated to behind the passenger seat, the only hard bit is getting through the grommet behind the glove box.

I also used a BMW e46 battery cable just need to trim it shorter but it's ideal if you go to the boot
