you are in a good line, lucky you'
thats a neat RS.
the brakes are rubbish as standard & going for the 12 pot brakes is a massive set up.
go for it, atleast you are 100% stopping

:D lol sorry about that i was just being a smart ass

yeah the brakes are probably the only thing that really lets the car down, but with that sorted i think its pretty much spot on.

so what are the weak points on the evo4rs ?

They are just susceptible to end float.

Apart from that they are the business.

nah my mistake. i should have read your post title better lol

well as far as i know i think the 4's are great & look neat, espesh in white!
the clutches are not so clever but its how you drive them on all models.
i have never owned a RS but driven some & the gear ratio is superb!

ok cool,

so how much power are the box's and diffs in the RS good for?

also what are the common upgrade routes out of interest

The RS box is good for at least 500BHP, the closer to 600, the more the likely hood of it going pop, same goes for the dif.

The most common route on the mods is a boost controller, induction kit, plugs, Rally or equivalent down pipe, remap/change of ECU and map or Power FC with hand commander, 255l or higher output fuel pump, uprated intercooler, injectors........................I could go on all day!

More or less what you were used to on your previous cars buddy.

You know the score;)

Come again Mr Lancer:confused:

I did say that the list is long...............
Why not add 272's and a bigger turbo.

272's are the camshafts in the head.
bigger lobes.

the RS gearbox wont give you top end speed compare to then GSR box if i am correct'

Right, so that is what your talking about!!!!

Granted, you have a point there, the ratio is a smaller one, but when your flying past it does not really matter. The RS was created for the gravel and mud etc. so for that it is great. A 6 speed box will fix that right up.

what were you thinking of El ?

if using the RS box it will have problems with a GSR on high speeds.
tried & tested.
it all comes down to the basic good mods i guess as you mentioned some '

Custom Jobs ARE an option!!!

Mr Lancer, I have to go on a mission so will be back in a couple of hours at the latest. I did not say 6 speed GSR, there are many ways of making the RS box hit 6 gears or an oversized 2nd to 5th that will get you over the 160 mark.

Have you seen the Silver RS III that Dave Brennun has??? He has a custom 5 speed box made by some Sangs in Aston;)

I took his car for a quick blitz the other day when he came down to have it fitted. The car was doing.................... up by Bill & Bull!!!!

He told me they offered him a 6 speed set up but he wanted to see how good they were by having this box for a year or so.

Forget what the local boys tell you about tried and tested. There was an Evo II RS in the Gumball around 6 years back called THE BIG RED ONE, it was clocked in the Netherlands doing 289KPH.

Food for though until I get back.

1-4 are great but maybe a longer 5th would be a good idea,

if i start swapping box's i know the road ill end up on, first it starts out with a 6 speed, then you might aswell go sequential, if you go sequential you might aswell make it electronic and clutchless, and then your in the realms of rather expensive ECU's gearbox's and all sorts lol

im just trying to resist at the moment, and be sensible and stop that domino effect of having to change everything

the RS box's are great.
they were made as competition cars on the track so the 1-4 is the quickest.
however if you fancy a better top end speed then they are ways of customising the RS box as El mentioned above.
