Hello from future owner

Hi everyone.

I don't own an Evo, but am looking at purchasing one next year.

I currently drive an S2000, love it, but think its time for a change and for something a little bit easier to live with as a daily driver.

I dont know a huge amount about Evos, but im hoping to learn from you guys so that I can make an informed decision about what to purchase.

At the moment, thinking an Evo 8 or 9, probably an MR FQ 320 / 360 (if thats right)

When you say healthy budget, you mean the price of purchase or maintenance ?

Hiya and welcome along, not a bad looking car you have there

True they don't answer bk but they still give you grief if you don't treat them right though lol

They will always cost money from start to finish, you never stop paying for an Evo wether it be cosmetic or just basic maintenance.
That's just the way the cookie crumbles

Well, to be honest, the S2000 has proven to be a handful with maintenance.

I do all the work on it myself, and must be honest, i have had my fair share of trouble.

It eats through rear tyres, they drink loads of oil, the timing chain tensioner needs to fixed every 2000 miles.

That said, I would be doing as much work on the Evo as I can within my DIY skill level.

Is there anyone around the Wimbledon area who would be kind enough to take me for a spin ? Will trade for a spin in the less powerful S2k

Nice s2k always a fan. The vtec always drinks oils my type r was a thirsty bugger too.

As said above evos like to be spoilt but they make up for it every time u get out in them

Well you lot are doing well at convincing Jon what an Evo is like to live with arnt you :razz:

What about the fact that yea you can spend lots of time tinkering but it's not essential mods as with any car you can tweak it as much as you like cos the Evo tuning world is massive or you can just get in it and drive it and service it when required.

But there is always gonna be something unexpected lying around the corner well that's from my experience

@evoaps - I guess with any high performance car, its pretty much expected to have problems around the corner.

What are spares prices like ? I presume that you get raped by dealers

Yep no point crying about it either

I alwAys price around to get the best deal

Well, now just to test drive one.

Its going to take alot to beat the feel of the Honda, but i am open minded.

Another thing, the awd is handy in snow, S2000 is a fail with that.

Evos are great in snow I got alot of weird looks off people last winter as I was driving up a couple of steep hill covered in snow
