Morning, made my first foray into Evo ownership with a 7 in silver.
Drives nicely, but when I got it up on my ramp it was a little rustler than I would have liked at the back, underneath. The rear wheel well is quite corroded and my body shop chap is sorting this out and plating where necessary.
I am also having it resprayed as the previous owner had a little arch rust dealt with and because it is silver the job was not the best (hard with silver).
I have read many threads from the "other" forum saying that these cars are prone to rust.
Well I am trying my best to get on top of it, I have removed any flaking underseal, wire wheeled the surface rust to remove top layer and covered it in two coats of Vactan (used for Dutch steel barges) and zinc primer, followed by Schultz underseal. I hope this is enough... :shock:
I have owned numerous performance cars, supra, rx7, etc. and after a period with a big 4x4 and a Renault 5 Turbo, I though I would amalgamate them into 1 - the obvious choice, Evo! :awesome:
I have a few quid left over for some little mods, like an Apexi power fc? What do you guys think?
