Hi all evo fans and car fans in general. My first evo and its been an adventure from day 1...Got myself an evo 4rs....overheated on on its first drive home few months ago..it overheated because the a/c pump top bolt was loose....worked its way out and put a hole in the radiator....the temp gauge at the time was not working so the first i knew was when the engine check light came on.....by then it was too late...the AA confirmed a head gasket failure and that was that.......New cosworth head gasket fitted along with a new thermostat, timing belt kit inc balancer belt, k and n oil filter, fresh oil, pipercross panel filter....engine ready....had to ask a friend to pick the car up for me and remember this is the cars second outing...he phones me to say the cars broken down...wont go into gear....i thought oh no not the gearbox....turns out to be the gear linkage and a temp fix was carried out using some tie wraps...selects gear so sweetly u would never know...i put some recaros into it and very recently i managed to get some second hand zeal function coilovers...i put them on had a fast road setup done and it drives very smoothly on the softest setting...finally over the last 2 weeks i have been enjoying the evo even though its running standard boost.......my previous car was a v3 type r running 1.5bar boost on one of its settings which i sold to a friend...we were out together the other day and though the evo comes onto boost quicker the scooby has the edge but thats all soon to change. While the evo was off the road having the head done i picked up some goodies,a fc commander and apexi boost controller (thats what my old scooby had so i thought i would stick the same in the evo). All i need now is some 560 injectors and good downpipe / decat and mapping. There are a few other bits I need but for for now hello everyone.

thanks for the welcome

hi guys and thanks for the replies - spent a couple of hours under the bonnet cleaning electrical connections / pipework / maf / throttle body etc and its definitely better....the turbo inlet pipe was pretty oily and small amounts of oil were on the turbo...all cleaned up now along with all the other airflow pipes...all the electrical connections were ok other than those associated with the boost...they were really badly gunged up and took a little tlc with electrical contact cleaner spray and a small pick...car holds boost a little better than before as some of the pipes were not on as tight as they should be. Very satisfying and rewarding couple of hours in my opinion 
