Names Matt, 26 and I'm from Worthing (near Brighton)

I joined up because I'm looking to purchase a Evo and wanted to speak to some people who own them and was hoping you'd be able to answer some of the questions I have!

I currently drive a 58 plate Ford Fiesta ST in diamond white and I'm looking to sell to help fund the purchase of a EVO 5/6/7 (preferably a 7).

Just wondering on a few aspects of the Evo - I've do some research on this before asking, but if I'm wrong please correct me!

Purchasing what are the important things to look out for going to view a Evo (obviously it has to have 4 wheels and a engine) but is there anything else vital on the Evo that is different to viewing another car?
I've seen a lot about checking the underneath of the car to check for rust.

Tax - I've seen a view Evo's and people have put varying tax prices ranging from £250 yearly to £460 ?!

Petrol - How much does it cost to fill your tank?

Mileage - How many miles can you get from your tank?
The most mileage I'll be doing in one week would be a maximum of 100 miles, but usually I think I would be driving about 50miles. I've seen that most people get on average is 250?

Paul Brown - Has anyone used or heard anything about the dealer Paul Brown? Seems like a good place to purchase a Evo and isn't too far from where I live.

Servicing - How much would a service on a Evo cost? and how much are the parts required if you know?

My tank being a vi holds 50litres and I've no idea how long it lasts as I just fill it up when it needs it

Welcome along. I have an 8 and I think mine holds around 65L but like lee just fill up as and when, servicing not a clue as I do it myself so I set 100 notes aside for parts and oil ect. On a non Eco motorway run I get just over 200 miles to a tank. Not heard of that dealership tbh. All in all great cars and sounds like its right up your street

Hi and welcome Bud!!

I'm picking up my EVO 9 today, and I had a few of the same questions that you had.

I did a bit of digging on the net and found some info that may be of use.

My tax is costing £470 for the year.

Serivces on the EVO can range from around £150 to £300 depending on what need to be done. If you need belts etc then i expect that this would be a bit more.

Mileage / gallon wise, I have spoke to a few people and they reckon that at best I would expect to average around 20mpg. For me though, i'll only be using the car a weekends so hopefully I won't notice it too much.

Sure i saw something about paul brown selling a badly repaired roll damaged evo? But looked imaculate until getting underneath / removing bits?

Also the main evo specific thing to check is the ayc/acd work correctly. Other than that its just another car.

hmm thats not good then, might explain why they are quite cheap!

Where would you guys recomend buying a Evo ? We're looking to spend between 7-8k

Tax varies from car to car. If you go onto direct.gov website you can do vehicle check which will tell you when it was first registered and when tax is due and the cost of it
