Hi fellow southwestian :)
For your budget you should be able to get a good 8.
Yes 380 is what we'd call stage 1 tuned, fairly easy to achieve with a few mods and some good mapping :)
Things to look out for really is rust. Paint is really thing on all evos and they are not really cut out for the uk climate.
Just give the car a good going over. Check that all 3 Ayc lights come on when starting the engine and that just 1 of the 3 stays in and you can flick through each mode :)

Feel free to post up any links for opinions :)

Hiya and welcome along :)

They are very reliable cars, as long as you service them when needed, and don't cut corners with cheap fuel or cheap oils filters etc etc then you should have no major problems.

They are fantastic cars to own and drive, there's always someone on here to help you and answer any questions the best they can for you :)

I would never use cheap oil or filters, how often should they be serviced every 4k? And wats involved in service? Is it just oil and filter thanks

welcome about 4.5K is recommended service internvals for oil+filter.

You also have to keep eye on diff / AYC / gearbox oils too but not required every service but should be factored in.

If you buy a good well maintained model you will be fine.

Don't dive in and buy the first one you see like a kid in a candy shop like I did. Consider everything and hang on if not all good otherwise you will be in for fixing expensive repairs because of poor maintainance ot abuse by previous owners.

Most 7/8/9 models can get to and run near 400bhp with sensible mods and be relaible on standad internals (exhaust, induction, walbro fuel pump, remap and boost controller)

Obviously more power can be achieved and run safely but you then into big boy expensive upgrades.

As mentioned, post up any your have in mind and we can share our views on if it looks decent on paper, or one we know, lemon etc...
