sorted out some insurance out today on my evo IX im only 24 and paying £2500! with £1000 excess! on the cover note it says:

special conditions, restrictions and/or excesses (in addition to standard policy excess)

£ 1000 fire and theft excess

5000 limited miles

excluding theft when not in garage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

please note!
A £500 compulsory excess applies
includes driving other cars

what does this mean to you excluding theft when not in garage????? only covered when garaged and not if it gets robbed from the shop?

what you think people?

cheers

I would be very cautious. I would want that clarified in writing.
And I be checking the rest of the docs very carefully!

PS Quakes, Write in English please ;)

Hi Marc,
It is obvious that the terms refer to where it is parked over night. If you had a claim in which you told them that the car has been stolen over night, they would ask the police for a full report including your statement when they ring them for the crime ref number. In this report they would pay very close attention to see if there were signs of forced entry into your Garage before they even consider a pay out.

If you had an accident, they would send an assessor out to inspect the car and check the mileage, if your car was over the 5k limit then they will not pay out.

If your car is stolen whilst out shopping or something then you are covered. If you stay over in another town over night it might not be covered. You will have to clarify this with them and tell the person on the line to email you a confirmation of the complete terms and conditions if you do not already have them.
If you were hit by some one and it was decided by both yours and the other persons insurers that it was not your fault, you would get your excess fee back.

You have a 14 day cooling off period, if you have not received a cover note through the post yet, you are entitled to a full refund. Try looking a little harder for cover.

A traders policy is no good for you.

Let us know how you get on buddy.

El
