Thats the problem, everyone here says that the evo 7 and evo 8 are the only ones that can be mapped.I could get one like this:

for about 200.00. Being a newbie with evo's, what do i need to tune this setup, meaning cables to connect fron ecu to laptop and what program do i need?

No the Evo 5/6 ecus can be mapped no problem with a open port 2 cable avaliable from Tactrix.

You will benefit from regularly topping up your fuel with an Octane Booster if it is that low!

Ordering what you need from the UK is probably going to be the best and cheapest option too.

Just got a deal with an EVO 7. The guy is really frustrated with the car. He wants me to give him mine and some cash, so we'll see how that works out.

Welcome mate!! Sorry it's a late one. Not been around for while!! I just sold a 4 and had a lot of experence with it. Hope you enjoy.
