also i noticed today in reverse if i reverse fastish i hear a strange grinding noise of some kind, any help would be appreciated.

thanks everyone.

Not too sure, do you know why the bottom end failed? If it was lack of maintained could be crappy oil therefore maybe the diff cos if someone doesn't do engine oil they won't do diff oil

the guy reckons he rebuilt it, well it had a new head gasket and new cambelt kit and it had evo 7 pistons in her, i took the old block appart today and the guy had broke the cog on the oil pump and just fitted the cover back over the bottom half of the block so it wasnt getting oil to the bottom end etc, what a total plum. i couldnt believe it when i saw it, i nearly cried. i will get the diff checked. thanks for the info,

Sounds to me like your synco is going mate.

Could this happen even tho I don't get a crunch in any gear and I can floor it through all gears going up the box. It only happens when coming down the box and I hit my foot off the clutch really hard to kinda make the car jolt.

Yea it can happen mate as i had it before from 5th to 4th and reverse and after cleaning clutch plates, changing oils, fitting new release bearing bearing and adjusting clutch it still was the same and i thought it was then the input/output gear being worn so sent it to transmission specialists and they checked it and fitted new synco. Problem was cured. I didnt have the judder or jolt you have though. If you have the time take the box out and split it and have a look at it mate or ring this guy and ask him over the phone what the problem could be as he is very very helpful and does all my transmission work......
