Hi All,

Just happy to find a forum where EVO owners can exchange experiences. I own an EVO7, 2001, and it is awesome. Was an avid sub*** guy but saw the light.
I am in Nairobi, Kenya, and the EVOs are rocking the entire rallying scene here.

Keep the EVO spirit alive.

cheers mate. I studied in Leicester uni, back in 1996-2000, and took off with a Law degree. Haven't been back to the UK since, but it is great that there is an evo owners forum alive there. I shall talk to my friends here and see if we can set up something local, then maybe share experiences with yall over there.

Is that your EVO on your avatar??? I just had mine delimited, and took it out for a test run, and was able to hit 245 KPh 6100RPM. It had been limited to 180something, when it came from Japan, but now it is a real monster, having added a boost controller. I still hope to do more to it, and maybe use it for the local rally next year.

Cheers.

hi welcome to this great forum jjogola also i have a evo 7 standard

Hi Gary,

I am sure you have maximum enjoyment of the car. Do you have anywhere where you can go and put the pedal to the floor? Here in Kenya we have some roads that are hardly used, and just recently re-carpeted, so we have a group of guys with Evo8s, Nissan Skyline GTR and toyota Supra who go out once in a month to burn rubber. Sadly, we are not able to keep up with the Nissan at 320kph, but we sure give him a run for his money when it comes to the windy sections. I love the way the EVO eats the turns effortlessly... The ACD and AYC are just something out of the ordinary...

I was to sell mine off but I changed my mind. I become a little boy again when I am behind the wheel of this great machine. I had mine branded like a works car, so I get away with speeding, as the cops think it is a rally car on road test... lol

Anyway, nice to be on this forum...

Cheers.

Hi?

good to hear you have been to Kenya, but the place has really changed much since 1992. Make sure you take a detour and come to Kenya on your way to or from Tanzania.

By the way, we are having a safari rally on 26th of this month, and the EVOs shall be looking to dominate. We have some very nice Group N cars, all EVO 9s, with some very talented drivers. Peter Horsey, who has been driving an EVO9 here in Kenya, recently had his debut at the WRC in an EVO10, under the Pirelli star driver program. That is the kind of talent we have in Kenya now. I am also hoping to join the rally next year.

I know... There was once I was caught off by a speed camera in SE London, not too far from Bellingham station, and when the letter came in, I told them that it was a buyer for my car who was testing the car, and since they never liked it, I never got their details. That was the only time I got caught by them cameras.

At least here in Kenya it will be a while before we have the cameras, so we rely on the cops with their speed guns to catch us out on the highways, but, with the rally bug around, we can get away with it more often....

The EVO bug really bites hard. I love it when I get the revs up high then hit the clutch, and the loud whistling of the dump valve scares away people... Many times they think the engine has blown, and they run for cover... What a sight.
