Any suggestions on how to clean up the turbo manifold

mine is going the same way.. Im thinking do i try and clean it up or do i wrap it in exhuast heat wrap i have here.. wrapping its probably a pain too??

I'm going to give the autosol a go and if that's no good

I'm getting the car bk Monday so ill give it a good polishing all week

I would use some coarse 120 grit emery cloth to get a consistant clean, move to a higher grit, this will remove the debris, then go for wire wool, then a Scotch pad on the viewable areas, the course pastse

It will only come back like that, but you can use a bit of enmery cloth to help, but its made of 304 and thats the reason why, they will go that way after a while and some more then others. 316, or the best for turbo manifolds is 321.

You must have been told lies, HKS would most likely out there name on it, my bet is a cheap ebay manifold, have. Look at the flange to see if there is any name put on it any where

Sorry to say it doesn't look like a HKS manifold

This is a HKS but even these crack and are not the best designed (unequal headers)



Hopefully it's a good make one like C-Tec, FullRace, JMF etc. then worth getting zircotec coated. If it's not a high end make just leave it rot or it will be a fighting battle for li's life trying to keep it clean

hey

took some pics of my standard manifold today, as I said it was just running the engine for 1 min then spraying!! looks lots better than it did!
it seems well "on there" too for such a quick job, its heated and cooled lots and been rained on a bit!

Looks loads better than the standard colour top job !

cheers! yeah ive done it on a few things like my gen 2 crx and accord type r, it really is just 5 mins and if the look starts to go in the future you simply warm up the motor and spray again!! much easyer than polishing a shiney manifold, not that there is anything wrong with a nice tubular manifold they just do need upkeep and sometimes the finish goes anyway!
