this debate could go on and on but if your into making anything go faster bikes or cars
nothing is 100% guaranted,just like life things can go wrong!mappers like si do a proffesional job in my opinion .its up you keep it standard or have some fun better to burn out than fadeaway lol!

Lol I suppose this could evolve into "warranty" but it's been done to death over the road and how many threads on there have we seen about "warranty" not being given to a disgruntled party ???

Exactly I suppose it's down to the attitude of the individual, My engine had gone a couple of times but I just got on with it and built it stronger

Make some valid points Colin. Some of the big names are very quick to pass the book with things like this, one in particular with a very expensive build....but that's for another thread.

Personally, I agree with you guys that you pay your money and you take your chance. I've used a geek mapper before with no issues, however now I'm using one man for all so only one man can be responsible if any problems were to arise.

Yes I agree with you there, if I'd payed x amount for forged this bigger that I'd be wanting answers too if it went bang, but when I see people running for eg 450 on a 10 year old bottom end I cringe, I wouldn't and I certainly wouldn't map someone's car to that extent

there seem to be a lot of people wanting to push the standard internals further and further these days. I did too to be fair, pushing the stock internals of my VII to over 400/400, but now its in for its build as it really was on the limit i think at that level.

as Si has said the map would have to be pretty shocking for someone to just look at and say "yeah, that was definitely what caused the failure" and even then idealy you'd need to see logs of the car to get the full picture.

but even with 'top tuners' you generally don't really have any comeback as there is a million and one others things it could be blamed on.

thats partly why I only generally tune friends cars as its not worth all the hassle.


your best bet is to stick to someone you trust with a good repuation and keep your fingers crossed as these engines are old now and are being pushed way more than they were designed to do.

This is always up for debate...... but anyway I believe its very hard to point the finger at the map being solely responsible for any failure. We now generally try and keep all of the logs from the cars that we map (not that we've had any problems touch wood) but we're seeing more and more people saying its the map was at fault, as said generally the cars are quiet old and have "unknown" histories of how they've been treated over the years, then you get asked to turn the boost up, make me xxxbhp etc, so car do and some cars don't just a fact of life but try explain that to some. The remap is probably the end of a list of things that have been done on the car, ie fit a load of ebay items which some one else has fitted and made X power, then remap the car some thing fails and its the map's fault as it was the last thing done.
