Hi, thinking of buying some gauges and need to know which is the most Important to get ie oil /oil pressure etc etc as only really wanting to purchase two. I already have boost on my Apexi and running at just under the 400 mark at the moment, will be putting cams and a new e 9 turbo on soon enough so will then be hopefully getting the 420-430 mark. So based on this information which dials do you recommend me buying.:arms:

Cheers mate so oil pressure is a deffinate one to get then, as I only want the two. So what would you suggest the other to be. Cheers again for the input.

I run boost temp n pressure and oil pressure n temp only because the spa gauges are dual so I got 4 but in two pods ;-)

Boost
Oil temp
Oil pressure
In that order. Oil light will come on dash if it gets very low. The gauge will help diagnose problems.
But is this along with a forged build at the bhp your running??

I was told by my macanic when I put on the turbo and cams that I shouldnt need to go internal. The only thing I have done is fit ARP headstuds, I have been told so many differant things one says one thing, someone says another just never know who to listein to!! Gets a bit a confussing

I would like over the 400 to 420 no more really as I was told I didn't really have to go internal at that power.

My experience with gauges is they are just scare mongering little things :p

I have the avcr which tells me boost and a few other bits, plus peaks of those. I'd consider oil pressure in mine, or even oil temp temp if you drive it hard.

Oil temp and pressure are the main two that you want to fit. Recently bought a set of defo oil gauges. Evc for boost and bltiz r vit to display a range of other sensors.

As for power, that would depend on cams. General rule soon as you go beyond low 400bhp you will be running luck of rod failure. Some never have problems, others aren't so lucky...

400-420 you won't really "feel" any difference.

Just get it mapped well and don't chase figures, use how much it pushes you into your seat as a power rating

What about pub figures ;) chasing figures is an addictive and expensive business.

Do agree drivability is the priority

not really chasing figures I just wantto put cams in and a new turbo and once I have done that thats what I was told the power would be. Trust me if I was after power I would want at least 700 bhp but my wife may have a few things to say on the issue.
