Yes it is dangerous to cut them, hence me asking Nick if it is just a swap over.
The stock springs are not designed to be cut/shortened so the dampers are over worked and therefore at risk of collapsing at any time.
Operating a vehicle that has cut springs can result in the springs popping out of the struts when a full lock of the steering is taking place....
At a high speeds, you are asking for trouble.

It's a boy racer thing buddy and to be honest with you, I did think of doing it myself once, back in the days when I was a wee nipper.
I decided to go for lowering clamps in the end but that was only because no-one had made lowering springs/suspension the the GTti's back then.
