fitting a Buddyclub GT wing

So I've been looking into buying a buddy club GT wing for my carbon boot but I'm having a few issues in regards to how I would fit it ....and not have it wrenched from the carbon boot

Option 1 as SteveyB and I have spoke about seems best..6mm ali plate under boot lid and bolt through the spoiler mounts and plate ...spreading the load as to not crack the carbon

or

option 2 drill it straight into carbon bolt down and pray !!!

Any how to's or ideas mucho appreciated

I wouldn't chance it and go for the Ali plate option

i would go for the plate that might hold it more firmer,mine feels like it moves loads when i open my boot but its nice and tight,strange!!!

so the plate is looking like the option ...but would you go for a length between two struts or two pieces - one per strut ....???

am i right in thinking the only major force will be downwards...as its a rear wing for downforce?......if so maybe two plates will do it rather than one big one ?

I would go for 2 and u will prob have more force on the bolts closer to the window

Explain your self Stevo ...??? I recon it will have more chance cumin off under braking than under acceleration due to force being a push on accel and a pull on de-acceleration or am I talking BS :thinking:

The airflow pushing against it at speed is what will pull it of the boot. Nothing to do with speeding up or slowing down.

I'd go for the one plate across the 2 holes as this will help to take any flex out the carbon and stop the wing bouncing around in the wind at speed

Yep I'd go for 1 big plate also

no mate, stick your hand out the window at 60 mph.. we all used to do this as kids remember,and the wind pushes your hand back... now a wing on the boot has alot more surface area than your hand..imagine what forces are working there

no mate, stick your hand out the window at 60 mph.. we all used to do this as kids remember,and the wind pushes your hand back... now a wing on the boot has alot more surface area than your hand..imagine what forces are working there

i know what your saying but for me the clue is kinda in the name WING so air will go over the top of it as well as on to it I'm defo going plate idea but unsure as to one or two at the min :hm:

yeah i did think of top speed but no to worried bout it tbh ....but as you see from below i think one big plate is out of the question

I know its a lil dark but thats just to see where its going to clear things up....and NO geof is not staying in my barn !!

The issue I'm going to have is the ftp struts will stop the efficiency of one big plate and thats without sods law coming into play of a support bolt join through a strut ....am I join to have to get the dremmel out to play ????



And yes it needs a clean ...as Steve and craig can justify !!

id even let a body shop/collision repairs garage do it,if they fek up,they owe me a boot lid

the wing has arrived !!! LOL

it has four fixing points with two bolts per point for the front and back of each strut....i think the load will be pretty well spread over 4 points but the wing itself is HUGE
