few questions evo 5

hi,firslty ,evo 5 tappets seem to be rattling a bit,havent serviced it or anything yet will do over the weekend,does the evo run hydorlic lifters can they be cleaned,i have no experience with these engines have ran vauxhall turbo engines and na for years,the lifters on them can be cleaned refurbed,just wondering whats involved in clean,replacement.
secondly looking through the history its been fitted with h.k.s eids module and hks super pow.flow evo 4,5,6 any ideas lol,
thirdly whats the belts and tensioners like to do,look very similar to gm

Belts

Personally get a specialist to do belts a good oil change with good oil and correct grade also a oe filter will do the trick

Tappets can be uprated to 3mm ones, they allow more oil to flow through them so quieten things down. Probably worth giving them a clean and some fresh oil before spending money on them though

yes the lash adjusters can be cleaned. or upgraded for 3mm ones

Uprate the tappets imo easy job to do. Belts and tensioners get a pro to do it unless the engine is out as its a pig of a job. It's nothin like gm buddy they quite easy to work on compared to evos

Tappets

There's a link on you tube to clean them it's very easy another tip use silkolene 10 50 oil if you dnot want to clean them run cheap fully syn oil for a week before changing to good stuff trust me it works my work mates thought my lifters were dead they couldn't believe the difference

You don't have tappets or lifters. They're lash adjusters and work off engine oil Pressure filling them. Belts are more of a specialist thing as there's 3 of them to do and one of them can be 360'degrees out causing the engine to shake.
