what sort of things can you do with it when using the 1.3u cable.
Had it over a year and never got to use it as i wasn't sure what it does.
I bought it to check for abnormal readings, but have no idea what those readings means
in most cases: O2 sensors, AYC, ABS etc etc..
any help would be much appreciated

There is an Evo Workshop manual at Mitsubishi Workshop Manuals You can use this to check what the normal readings are, and the troubleshooting step by step for your vehicle.

when ever i've tried those workshop manuals mate they haven't worked, opens page 1 and the rest are out of date and wont load.

think its a case same as me sy, ya get all these readings but we ant got a clue what they mean lol, and no matter where ya look there is no where that tells you exactly what they mean and what the correct reading should be, so we know what is running right and what is not.

All the manuals work fine here... I'm using Firefox 10.0, and Adobe Reader X.

which link doesn't work for you? what vehicle manual are you trying? you can download it and open it from there, or the online pdf one works too.

The workshop manual has the standard range/s for every sensor in the vehicle.

its the evo 4 and 5 manual, some of the links are dead, ie engine electrical shows dead link

don't have problem with the readings. Just don't know what it means. OK, BAD, or NOT WORKING.
A spec sheet to compare with, would be good if I can get a copy.

main things I want are: AYC, ABS, G-sensors, O2, MAF.. another word the key one's

what does "sy" mean? sincerely yours?

basically everything is within range limits if you don't have a trouble codes.

even if your MAF is really dirty, and it makes your car run very lean, you won't notice this because the ecu can compensate... you will only get very small hints, like... getting excessive lean, even after you keep compensating for it in the injector scaling in ecuflash. but you wont know this unless you are monitoring knock and using a wideband sensor.. so as you can appreciate, there is no one magic number for every reading.. you have to take all readings in entirety to get a picture.. which is why the Tuner guy on this thread wants to see your entire log in entirety. also some values are "normal" depending on your vehicle mods, and sensor age.

Well you would see a maf issue in the fuel trims and O2 feedback

correct, you would probably look at all 4 fuel trims and o2 sensor in conjunction with each other. maybe MAF volts/hz also. and maybe its a faulty o2 sensor. so the o2 sensor also. This is where sy's experience comes in to play

I'm a bit lost here, If the ecu working to compensate for changes. Then how to tell something is not quite right by looking at the Fuel trim( sorry-what is this?),and as with O2 sensor readings- what to watch out for. And as with MAF, how to tell it's goosed.
Again, sorry if I'm being a pain, I'm curious and want to make use of the tool available to me

Have you read all of the Evo8 workshop manual.. trouble codes chapter is good., it applies to all Evos, not just Evo8.

fuel trims are a percentage of fuel the ecu is adding or deducting in relation to what the o2 sensor is reading, you have fuel trims low (idle),mid (cruise),high.

I had a fuel trim issue a lil while back due to a blow in my turbo elbow, sealed it properly and management light went out and that's it. From what I found out fuel trim props come from dodgy readings by maf or O2 sensor
