Hey all,

Am going to see this 7 on the wknd as its within walking distance of my house:

2001 MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO VII 2.0 TURBO

I've spoken to the dealer. It was imported by Keighley in 2008 with 96000km on the clock. Since then its done 3k miles. Only service records are in Japanese so not sure on whether its had a cam belt done or any other specific Evo service in the last 3k miles. All they have is MOTs from the last 2years.

It's standard with no mods. Not sure no what its running 276bhp??

Any help on what should I be checking for, apart from the obvious knocking noises, oil colour etc.?? It's priced at 9k with 2yrs warrantee, but I don't know what that covers. 8k online, no warrantee. Is that a reasonable price if its a decent motor?

It looks like it is in Bristol!
That is far enough from Keighley MotorSport Centre.

Your right Gary, those guys are clowns and I know a couple of guys who have had the misfortune of buying from them and ended up getting ripped off with no refund or compensation to speak of:mad:

One of them managed to get the car to our Garage the day he bought it, I say managed but what I should say is that the RAC managed to get it to us. The bottom ball joint broke of when he got the car home!!! Lucky for them and him, it did not happen on the Motorway.

Songshan,
Make sure the car has comprehensive Warranty and that you take some one with you that knows his/her Evo's. Try to offer as little as possible for the car too.

gary - the dealer is in Bristol but said that the car was originally imported by Keighley. The previous owner PXd it for something cheaper. Not sure if any work has been done on the car by the previous owner as the dealer said the only paper work with it was MOTs, which is a shame.

I'll pop down and have a look and test drive. I have a friend in the motor trade who's looked after my cars for 15yrs so I'll ask him to have a look if I consider buying. Might be able to run a diagnostics on it to see if anything pops up.

So £7750 with warranty?? ;)
