evo6 won't start

hello there,

i recently bought a evo6 and am happy with it, but its problems are starting to worry me.

first, the ayc and engine lights were constantly on, and the car would delay 1 sec when accelerating. i brought the car to the garage to have it fixed. today i got it back and everything seemed to work just fine. but on my way home i ran out of fuel (i completely forgot about this since i was focusing on the car's previous issues). i had some friends bring me gasoline and filled the tank with 14 liters. after waiting a couple of minutes i tried to start it but with no luck. after maybe 6-7 tries it finally worked. so far so good. but at the first red lights, while slowing down, the engine suddenly stopped. i had to crank it another 6-7 times until it would run. at the 2nd red lights the same happened again. just this time the engine won't start at all.

does anyone know what the problem could be? i exhausted all of my resources and am completely lost...

oh, and there are 2 other problems i have:
as mentioned above, the engine completely stopped working while slowing down. after i managed to start it at the first red lights i continued driving without noticing anything unusual. but when i slowed down for a turn and steered into it, the battery and oil pressure lights turned on, and the power-steering was gone. only after accelerating did everything return to normal.

the second problem is the radiator. when filling in water, most of it just leeks out at the bottom...

all answers are appreciated and i thank all of you already in advance. i hope you can help me out as im frustrated over here :(

thanks!

Is the battery ok? Is the plug in at the bottom of the rad or is it loose? Are all the rad hoses connected? Where at the bottom is the water leaking from? Could be the headgasket or the oil pump.

i had the same thing happen but it turned out to be the clutch!! going into a roundabout at 60mph then putting ur foot on the clutch and the car just dies is a life changing experience to say the least! i had to knock it into neutral and brake for my life lol that was scary :sad:

You're very lucky your brakes worked. My experience of car (limo) cutting out was when the rear diff. collapsed. I thought it was going to stop in the middle of the roundabout and block it off! Luckily I managed to get it to the exit and parked safe. First and last limo I'll drive! On inspection, the crown had melted away it was that bad!

Now back to the evo :whistling: :)

in mk most the roads are 60 so it would be rude not to lol the snow had basically gone but there were patches of ice still around and didn't expect the car to throw a wobbly on me lol

No prob mate. That's what were here for :)

Are you getting any lights on the dash or is there any power coming from your battery? Do the windows, heaters work when you put ignition on?

the cutting out, lights coming on, steering locking when slowing down and putting ur foot on the clutch suggests to me that ur clutch is on it's way out!

so get that looked at asap otherwise u could end up with ucking ur flywheel = a huge bill.
Also if it is the clutch make sure the garage look at what clutch it is before ordering a new one cos the guy i had do mine ucked up and i ended up buying 2 clutches and flywheels costing me nearly 2000 so not cheap :( :(

there are no warnings signs on the dash and everything else works fine (windows, air-con, headlights, etc.); also tried starting it with the battery-cable thing (sorry, dont know the technical english term for it).

thank you once again, foxy. but the guy i bought the evo from told me he just changed the clutch  is he like bs-ing me? how can i check whether it is a new or a worn clutch?

thanks again for all your answers.

i uploaded a video on youtube so you can hear the sound the engine gives when cranking it. i know its painful but i wanted you to hear the sound clearly which might help in pinpointing the problem:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ-hoYE6QeM]YouTube - ????????????? ???????????[/ame]

in the video the radiator leakage is also visible. but this is a small fix.
