Hi all

In a previous post I mentioned my X SST was making strange sounds. Well the dealership decided to replace the gearbox which they did.
All was well for about 3 days, the gear changes seemed smoother the noises were gone what more could I have asked for.
Then on a run on Sunday I noticed a strange smell, and then the gear changes became very clunky.
Took it back to the dealers on Monday and found a seal was leaking and pressures had dropped in the transmission.
Im really starting to get worried that when the warranty runs out in 10 months I’m going to start getting hit with huge bills for all this. :(

I’m just wondering if any other X owners had the same experiences with their cars.

Cheers

The smart thing to do will be to have the necessary repair done via the dealer and get rid of it as soon as possible.

This is just the tip of the ice burg!!!

Hi there

No sorry mate, I had a rattle comming from what I thought was the engine. It was the dealer who said I needed a new gearbox. I did however get the odd rough gear change when cold.
Although under warrenty I asked what the price it would have been and was orignally told a new box fitted was 8.5K approx. I picked up the paperwork for all the recent work on the car and it was £6500 of which £500 was labour.
As El has replied I think its a good idea to get out while the going is good. If you cant get your dealer to accept there is something wrong you could be in real trouble if there is a problem further down the line.

btw thansk for your wise words El

On another note: Anyone want to buy a 2008 Evo X

Although there have been some gear box issues it is a bit like the IV crank walk, i.e. there is an issue with a small number of boxes but it has been blown out of proportion.......

Saying that though, a new box will be costly but luckily there are a few tuners who can deal with this a lo cheaper these days.
