Good show Nathan & welcome along buddy!!!

Question:

What's the under side looking like?

Thank you very much! The underside is a bit rough. I took a sledge hammer to the floor pan in the front seat area to flatten it down but that was the worst of it. The rest really isn't bad considering.

I fabed up my seat bracket for the driver's seat and got that mounted today! I can't wait to get the other one in too. I also installed a Perrin 25mm adjustable rear sway bar along with Perrin Stout Mounts and adjustable end links. In addition I made the spacers for the front Bilsteins and got them installed.

Thanks, that I do! I must admit I was quite overwhelmed when I first looked at the car with the amount of work it needed. However it isn't everyday you find an Evo V for sale in the US, much less a factory LHD. It's worth all the work.

I also figured I'd share this pic with you guys, it's a comparison shot with the Evo V rear strut bar (21mm),Evo VIII rear strut bar (22mm),and Perrin adjustable rear sway bar (25mm). Because the Evo V/VI and VIII/IX rear sway bars are interchangeable I was able to install the Perrin unit on the V along with the Perrin Stout Mounts and Perrin adjustable end links.

Over the past few days I painted the drivers side door wells, trunk, and misc bar metal, cut out and installed the rear speakers along with adding the wiring to the factory harness, and installed all 4 struts/springs. I am currently working on installing the trunk liner and carpet.

It's getting there! Here are the new Enkei RPF1's with Dunlop ZII's on Bilstein struts and Swift springs.

A few quick updates, first I bought a battery and hooked it up only to find out that I have some electrical issues. I guess it should be expected given the car's history. A buddy of mine is supposed to be coming over later today to help me diagnose the issues. He has helped me with similar issues in the past so I'm hoping together we can figure it out without too much trouble.

I got the passenger seat brackets fabbed up and the seat mounted. I also received and installed the carbon fiber roll cage protection strips from Grid Design (they are a great company to work with, I highly recommend checking them out!). Man do I love the way the interior is looking!

On to the exterior, I rolled the car outside yesterday so it could get some fresh air… and because we were installing some mods on another buddies Evo IX. I now have all 4 RPF1's installed and they are officially mine.

Things are still moving forward and I'm getting close to getting her started. This past week I installed new fuel and brake hard lines underneath we the car. I rebuilt all 4 Brembo calipers (new seals and dust covers) and the are currently being painted and I have new pads and stainless steel brake lines to go on with them. I also repaired some electrical tracks on the back of the instrument cluster, replaced the ignition switch, and installed a double DIN head unit.

I finally finished up the suspension and brakes on the Evo V. Bilstein struts, Swift springs, Brembo calipers, StopTech/Centric high carbon rotors, braided lines, and pads, Perrin 25mm adjustable rear sway bar with Stout Mounts and adjustable end links, and of course topped off with 17x9.5" Enkei RPF1's wrapped in 245/40/17 Dunlop ZII tires.

I'm knee deep in electrical issues now, currently sorting though it all. Once that is settled I'll be just about ready to try and get her started.

I just received my new gauges, AEM digital wideband air/fuel and boost gauge and installed them in a instrument cluster surround gauge pod. What do you think?

Wow, what a project! Great job :)
Love this, want to go this way with mine!

Thanks guys!

Here are some more recent updates. First I got my wiring issue sorted out and now have working dash lights! Here is a shot of the dash both during the day and at night.

Next I finally wired up and installed the original fuel tank which has a Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump inside. While I was down there I noticed that the driveshaft and rear differential skid plates are actual RalliArt pieces which I found pretty exciting.

With the fuel tank in place the exhaust would no longer fit because the muffler had been welded where the fuel tank goes (the car had a fuel cell in the trunk when I got it). So I took the 3" stainless steel exhaust that I used to have on my Eclipse back when it was still FWD and chopped it up and welded it to replace the 2.5" stuff that came on the V. It actually turned out pretty awesome!

It's alive!!!

I bought this car knowing it hadn't been started in at least over two years (from talking to the previous two owners, neither of whom had started it) and know that it had been rallied it's whole life. There was always that thought in the back of my head that something catastrophic could be wrong with the engine or drivetrain. It's good to know now at least that the engine is functioning!

Next step is to figure out my tuning method. It's currently running on an old MoTeC ECU that I have no way of connecting to. I'm researching now to decide wether to go with a V/VI ECU or an VIII.

The progress continues. I am now running on a stock Evo V ECU with the stock ROM for the moment. I am currently in the process of stripping off the five layers of paint that were one it which is why it looks all "JDM" meets Rat Rod" right now. Also I replaced the headlights and replaced the broken fog light that AS World sent me and never resolved.

I finally drove the car and the block a few times and things seem to be functioning fine except for the brakes. I am going to be bleeding them again and see if that is all they need.

Well it's well on the way to getting there, that's for sure!!!

Get EvoScan and the necessay hardware.

I'm sure that Mr Norton can help you out in that department and guide you through what to and what not to do......

What are the Calliper Pistons like?

Keep the updates rolling in buddy!

Thanks! I have EvoScan and a cable, just haven't gotten a chance to start working on that part of the project yet. The pistons looked great, I replaced the seal and dust cover, SS lines, new pads, and new rotors. When bleeding though I only get air/fluid on the inside bleeder valves of the rear calipers. I'm thinking maybe the outside valve aren't functioning?

Probably due to it having been neglected for so long buddy.

They are know to corrode / clog up.

Have you tried removing them completely and inspecting them?

Might be a good idea to remove them and see what type of flow you have by bleeding once they are off. Be sure to have a container handy for the overflow.

Hopefully there will be a pressurised flow once they are removed.

If that is the case then what you want to do is get someone to go for a slow manual depresion on the pedal when you have a decent flow coming through.

Whilst that someone is performing that task, you will need get the outer nipple back in place and nip it up real fast. It should work out just fine as long as the timing is synchronised. This needs to be done between the time that the pedal is just starting to go down and before it hits the floor.

If that does not work then you will have to remove the Calliper(s) and bench it / them once more.

I presume that the problem is only on the rears right???

Where the Pistons moving freely when the Callipers were off???
