Evo V ABS and EYC fault

Hi everyone, I have both these lights on, firstly they were intermittent but now on constantly. I have seen the guldes on how to extract fault codes, but although the table of faults lists engine, ABS and EYC codes it seems to be the same method (shorting pins 1 and 4 on the obd plug) for all systems. I have tried this and only my engine management light flashes, with no faults. What do I do to extract ABS codes? The battery has been disconnected but the fault was there before and after this.

Many thanks

Hi, thanks for reply, I am near Stansted Airport. I actually own a garage and have access to several diagnostic scanners, unfortunately nothing that can communicate with my own vehicle! Are you saying the code cannot be read without a scanner, I have searched the archives which lead me to believe it was possible? I just thought I was not using the correct method.

It is the correct method but trying to do that and find the correct meaning fir that code is more difficult. Just alot easier with evoscan and a tactrix cable as they are made for the evo's. Std code readers don't normally read them...

I can help but I'm over in Luton Beds... If you can get the car to me :D

Thanks RsvRob, as the light is now on constantly I will probably measure the resistance of the speed sensors as they are the commonest problem I see and may contact you if the fault lies elsewhere. But car has no tax or mot at the moment and it would fail on ABS light.

Just out of interest, where do I buy evoscan and cable from, do you know rough cost, I already have laptop just for diagnostics?

'Evoscan' is a member on here and its the name of the program. PM him to get hold of any programs but the cable you'd need is a 'tactrix openport 2.0' which can be bought from here Search

actually you can buy both the cable and software from grant :D
