Hi just looking for a bit of help and advice, not found too much on a search.

I'm needing to change my rack soon and was looking at it tonight and looks pretty difficult to get out and was wondering if not only does the subframe need dropped but the gearbox and transfer? if so I'm really not looking forward to that lol

Any help appreciated

I think it's a case of the subframe without the transfer box as it goes over the steering rack

Thought that might be the case, and was hoping it wasn't, I've heard the transfer can be pretty difficult to split in place too. Thanks for the reply

I think I have explained wrong, the transfer can stay in and doesn't need removing from memory as it goes over the top of the subframe so not in the way, tricky job still though you doing it on a lift?

Nah won't be on a lift but big axel stands in a workshop so a bit easier than lying in my street. So I should manage to get it out above the transfer box with it in place? Sounds a bit less painful lol

To anyone wondering I did manage to get it out without the removal of the transfer box. once I've taken the pipes off and removed the TRE's I dropped the downpipe off and lowered the subframe and then removed the rack from its mounts on the subframe and was able to sqeeze it through the O/S Wheel arch with the rack moved forward. Wasn't too difficult at all really.
