Evo IV - ford Mondeo ST220

Had a straight swap offer on my Evo on Pistonheads.

My Evo, as you all know is in great nick etc etc.

For a Black Mondeo ST220(3.0l V6) in Black with 69k miles and FSH. Tax april 2012 MoT august 2011

Bearing in mind i want £3,600 for my car. which i dropped down from £4,000 as per the for sale thread shows.

What i need to know is, is this a good swap or am i going to end up kicking myself afterwards. PS i do love a sporty Ford

He also asked if i'd MoT my evo for him before hand. which will have to be tomorrow. The MoT expires 27th may 2011 mind.

Any pros/cons people?

Your not going to get much of a kick out of the mondy V6 but nice for cruising on the motorway.

I've only done around 1,500 miles in the Evo since 27th may 2010. Dont do much motorway driving as i live around 4 miles from work. on one junction on A road, off the next one. very quick and short drive.

Oh well then nice sounding V6 lump, very smooth but not that quick

Mondy is a nice comfortable cruiser and can just eat up the miles but for 4 miles a day you will not really be getting the positives of the car.

Hi mark been reading few of your posts and its obivious you love the evo why are you selling? Not that i want to talk myself out of a deal but ive been in your sitauation befor and regretted selling like so many.

Hi Neil. as per PM only selling due to mortage commitments, Family life and for my love of my old RS which sadly needs alot of work and love. Sadly While i love my Evo it has to come second to my RS, but before my other family car. Lastly the petrol comsumption plays a part.

I hope it doesn't seem like im messing you around. Afterall your offer was/is the only decent offer so far Nova C20let for my Evo and some nasty Euro look fiesta 1.6 was offered as a swap.

I've heard the st220s need the engine rebuilding every 40k miles! Not sure how true this is. I was told by a police officer good few years ago. (I got pulled over by him so asked what they're like).

A mate of mine had a st220. Cracking car for the money !

It left my accord type r for dust and easily pulled away from another mates astra turbo at over 000mph

Your right it ain't no Evo but it's alot of car for not alot of money and if you watch the this you'll see how rare they are

Not true at all from what i know and heard on stowners.The engine is pretty solid ive not heard of any major issues its the st tdci that can have its problems.

st 220 engine are all but bullet proof, i had the pleasure of bringing one back from newcastle to luton when i worked in used car sales and although it wasnt a thrilling drive i surprised a few chavs in their motors and did it in comfort and with a 6 disc sony cd changer.

they are truely nippy and keep pulling but not faaasssttt. fuel consumption is a lot better than an evo. although if you do go out and give it some true stick in first and 2nd or hold the gears until redline you lose all gears for a minute or so, dnt know why

Cool. I know the tdci's are dodgy. Drive brilliant while ok but when they go wrong...:whistling: egr valve, injectors, flywheel, bottom end!! My mates have come a Ross these main faults

You know what you've done, you failed to tell me about the bumper being damaged, and sooner rather than later it'll need replacing and painted. That aint cheap. If you were 100% honest, like i was. I even included in my ad the rear nearside ARB bush has slight play in it. Thats honesty.

I even managed to get the car booked in for an MoT for you. Now thats what i call Genuine.

As mentioned please leave me alone.
