Evo colt!!

well i've been a member of coltuk for a while now and love my mitsubishi's, after building my v6 mivec Folt couple years ago which has now been sold on, decided i wanted another mitsi. Been looking at getting an Evo but sadly insurance companies are rediculous and unless i can find a job that will pay more than enough for me to afford £400+ a month on insurance it wont be happening!! lol

So decided to build an Evo colt, wont be AWD just balls out FWD, been speaking to few guys on coltuk and been told you guys are full of information that will be able to help!!

At the moment im doing my research and trying to find the best parts and setup to use, and pricing it all up. So far decided to use Evo 5 lump, because as far as im aware the evo 4 lump suffers crank walk and dont want to be dealing with that just after building it, as thats what my luck is like lol.

Stuck on what suspension, hub and brake setup to use, was intending on keeping it 4stud just for that sleeper look, but if i want to run big power then its not good idea!

Soooo do i....

keep my 4stud on front and run Evo front calipers and clio 182 discs?

or

use the FTO hubs and suspension to convert to 5stud but then what brakes can be used?

would use evo suspension but as far as im aware the rear suspension doesnt fit!?

Also another thing i just want to clear up is im intending on using the Evo 5 box with blanking plate as not running AWD, but i've been told i'll need to use the Evo 4 driveshafts as the 5&6 are and inch or two wider so therefore have longer shafts, but would the Evo shafts fit FTO hubs or do they only fit the colt hubs?

i know lots of questions but any help at all would be useful, dont want to end up buying a load of parts that are useless!! haha

sounds like your planning a real machine there buddy. the later 4 engines will be ok for crankwalk (i learned that the other day)


what sort of power are you aiming for as that would ultimately depend on the break and hub setup

is it relatively straight forward getting an evo lump in a colt as im not too good on conversions, but i know for example the older vauxhalls are inretchangable quite a bit

yeah hoping it will be, preferably between the 300 - 400bhp mark, which i know will be hard to keep the power down but will deal with that once i come to that lol...did previously build the v6 mivec colt using the gpx 207bhp engine and that was a bit of a monster lol so wanting to go more!

yeah engine and everything is a straight fit, the CA colts have same front chassis as the Evo 1,2,3 and CJ colt has same chassis as Evo 4,5,6,7,8,9 im pretty sure, theres a guy on colt owners club that built a CJ with the Evo 9 engine and 4WD system and put the full front end on as it all bolts straight on, so yeah everythin is interchangable

i'll try get a pic up
