Evo 9 Standard Radiator

Anyone know what make the standard EVO 9 rad is?

Took mine out yesterday after removing from garage to put the Starlet in to do some bodywork.

I thought the steam coming through the bonnet vent was just the excess WD40 burning off from when I was playing around trying to remove the manifold.

Popped the bonnet and it looks like the rad is leaking as green spray in engine bay and expansion tank looking empty. Not looked in detail yet to see if it was just me being a numpty and not tightening everything up properly or if its sprung a leak!

Out of interest what manufacturer is the standard 9 Rad. I think mine has Toyo embossed on it (sadly not Koyo)?

Are standard ones cheapish to replace as the Koyo ones are about 400 plus quid arent they?

Have you had the rad out lately? When I took mine off once I pierced the rad with the fan casing puttin it all back in

Not had it out, just did a coolant flush (not that there was anything in it to flush so it may have been leaking before!).

I need to check Ive done the drain plug up rpoperly and the rad cap is on properly but cant see me getting them wrong.

Rad not been taken out. Although it does have a few marks on it. I reckon that when the guys welded my old mani they damaged it when the dropped the turbo elbow down to get it off and didnt protect it. Don't spose there's an easy way to test it as assume it would need to be under pressure and not something that would immedictaely be obvious just turning the engine over and looking?

it is possible than something has damaged the core. best way to tell is to fill er up and let the car run till its nice and hot and see where the water is coming from

They didn't take the rad out to do the elbow?? That's a very tight space to work in, possibly damaged at that time, yh best way to tell is fill her up and wait to see if she leaks

Just replace it with a koyo rad , job done.
