Evo 9 GSR Oil/fluid Change

It's about time to have a big oil/fluid change for my Evo 9.
However after going through various sources and even the manual...I am puzzled by what oil I should get for the parts...

1. Engine Oil - I am fine with that
2. Gearbox Oil - DiaQueen GL-3 75w-80, obtain from Mitsubishi Dealer
3. Tranfer Oil - Is it the AYC oil or LSD?
4. Rear Diff oil - AYC oil as above?
5. ACD Fluid - Diamond ATF SP III, obtain from MItsubishi Dealer

My main concern is about 3 and 4...are they using LSD or AYC oil as shown below?

Almost all sorted out. ONe question remains...since my E9 is a GSR with AYC...I know the front diff uses the LSD oil, but what about the rear diff? Does it use the specific AYC oil or just LSD?

This is what I use.....

Engine oil.... Fuchs Titan Pro S 5w-40 Ester Synthetic Oil

Gearbox.... Millers CRX 75w90 Gear Oil

Transfer Box.... Millers CRX 75w90 Gear Oil

ACD.... AmsOil ATF Fluid (don't have ACD on my car, but I know it uses ATF fluid)

Rear Diff.... Millers CRX 75w90 Gear Oil

AYC.... AmsOil ATF Fluid

AYC hydraulic side.... AmsOil ATF Fluid


In the Evo, the rear diff has 2 compartments, 1 gear oil compartment, and one ATF compartment for the AYC clutch packs. Then you have the hydraulic side of the AYC & ACD that need to be bled using an MUT-III tool or by having all 4 wheels in the air moving at 20+ MPH and turning the wheel side to side while someone else opens/closes the bleed nipple.

If you have EvoScan and an Open Port 1.3u you can bleed the AYC using that, but it does not support bleeding of the ACD.

Ahhha thanks mate, that's exactly what I wanted to know...
So for the rear diff...LSD oil can be replaced as usual but for the AYC oil it takes a bit more time and effort, sounds like a 2 men job!!

Bleeding the hydraulic part of the AYC/ACD is not absolutely needed every service however Mitsi do say to do it during each 4500 mile service.

The fill bolt for the AYC is in a tight space up at the back of the diff, remember to undo the fill bolts before the drain bolts. Last thing you want is to have no oil in the car and find you can't get the fill bolt off to refill it.

I was told Herman by a known Evo specialist that gravity bleeding the acd/ayc is just as good as using the mut2 tool, the procedure was carried out on mine, all was well

It may well work, but I know when I have opened the nipples on my own car it's just dribbled out, so would rather have the pump do the work, takes less time.

Having only AYC and both Open Port 1.3u and 2.0 I have always used EvoScan to do it.

Also, the MUT & EvoScan activate actuators as well as the pump during bleeding, so don't know how well gravity bleeding actually works. Never done it myself so can't really comment.

I thought an Ayc bleed was more like 36k not 4.5 or even 9k

Ayc bath needs to be changed more frequently yea, 9k or 12 months is early and when I choose to do mine

Evoscan never worked on me 8 tried holding the 2 pedals down too.

My dad did my ayc few weeks ago. Ignition on acc pedal all the down nipple open, pours out job done fill with new stuff bleed through top up sorted

On the Mitsu service sheet I have for the Evo VI given to UK dealers it says to change the AYC fluid & bleed the system at every 4500 mile service.
