Alright lads, new member here :/
I've got an MR FQ320 2005 model.
The radiator fan came on sporadically and now when I insert the ignition key and turn it until the dash lights are illuminated the fan runs on it's own
I'm guessing a borked fan module but not too sure. Another thing is the AYC lights (all 3 are on constant now) and as it appears to be a major problem I guess it is a strip down and repair if possible or a reconditioned unit. The main problem I have is the engine, it turns over but doesn't fire, I'm pretty new to all this techo-madness and have no idea as to how to check the crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor, I have replaced the coil packs, leads and plugs just in case but still no joy. I've tested the IAV and it does what it is supposed to when the key is turned. The car suddenly stopped one evening as I was driving home from work and I got it towed home, it would idle but very roughly, some black smoke from the exhaust (not heavy, just slight) and then it would cut out, after further inspection I noticed a boost pipe had come off (below the turbo unit) my first thought was 'blockage, it's got to be a damn blockage!' lol - so I popped it back on and tightened the jubilees using a small wrench, they won't come off again! Since I did this the car refuses to fire now, I can smell fuel so I guess the pumps working?
I have evoscan on my laptop and using a tactrix cable hooked it up; it connected and surprise surprise NO fault codes lol!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought these modern electronic marvels told you if something was wrong? Guess not :/
All it gave me were a few readings as I turned the engine over on the starter, crank sensor = 0 - again I have no idea if this is good or bad? I had an Evo 4 many years ago and it decided that it had had enough one fine evening, when we were out visiting the Derbyshire countryside - balance belt snapped, took out the timing belt with it so that it smashed all the valves and damaged the pistons too, even a camshaft was bent :/ You would have thought that they could have designed something to instantly bleed down the adjusters to stop valve - piston contact but oh noo, not mitsi, they would sooner see a 20+ grand car destroy itself, bloody marvellous!
Sorry for the rather long post but as you might have guessed by now I am pretty miffed and about had it with these cars, I think I will design a flintstone car and start working on my leg strength
