Hi nooob here I am in the market to buy a evo 8 or 9, in the next week, I am looking at the FQ 320 or FQ 330, I am totally new to this car but not to mechanics, I would love some advice from you guys on what to look for or what's the best options are, I have 3 different ones I have been looking at all around the 60,000 mile mark, what's the main difference between 8 and 9,
Many thanks in advance.

Main differences are bumpers, maybe seats and the 9 has a mivec engine which is slightly stronger and responds a bit better to tuning.

Main things to look out for are enduring it has good service history, I.e all reciprs for work done etc. make sure all the lights illuminate on ignition but extinguish when the engine has started, other than the desired setting.

Other than that it's pretty much standard car stuff.

Main difference between 8-9 is the 9 has a mivec engine vvt and bigger tubby hot side. In essence same car different clothes.

Ayc is the main thing around that mileage (mines up shoot atm around that mileage) there should only e one light on either Tarmac, gravel or snow not all 3 and should remain only one after a drive too. Being a mechanic even ayc shouldn't be a problem as some of us have realised lately.

Apart from that just check for the usual, fsh if that's a concern rust!! Ect. Main thing to bear in mind is its a car and same checks as normal. If any mods have been done who done the work? Dnt be afraid to ask

Apart from exterior and interior looks, the engine and turbo are different.
9 has a mivec engine and bigger turbo...
As usual do the normal car checks and check all dash lights!!
