hi all, im getting my evo in about 4 weeks time and i was getting insurance quotes for £2200 from confused with admiral last month, ive just re-quoted again and its now gone up to £2800!! i will pay that if i have to but it just seems damn high considering my circumstances!

im 23
6 yrs no claims
no convictions atall
live in a nice area
6000 miles a year
using the car for social use only cus i have a company van
car has cobra 777 alarm and tracker retrieve

considering all these i think it should be cheaper! any reccomended insurance companys anyone??

i put all of the above in, ie, 23, 6 years ncb, no points, alarm, tracker, 5000 miles a year and i paid £927 with protected ncb.
that was with elephant. id try going through compare the market as i found that site to be upto £200 less than others.

Say your a web designer ;) don't ask me why but its cheaper and put an older buddy as a named driver either mum or aunt and state you have had your car longer than a year. All things that won't be checked and brings it down. Do some serious shopping around. Autotrader confused meerkat money supermarket

yeah, jobs make a massive difference. if i put i am a weapons engineer in hm forces it is £280 more than if i put aeronautical engineer in the civil service.... not a million miles apart but a huge difference.

is it dangerous putting a false job down? i mean if you had an accident and they started checking over your details could they void your insurance? im a refrigeration engineer and it looks like being an engineer rises the price a fair amount compared to being office based.

i think its ok putting ive owned the car for longer cus its owned by my dad at the mo so its been at my address for like 7 years! so think i could get away with that one if they questioned it.

does putting my dad as a named driver effect anyhting? will i still get my no claims and everything?

wow ive just, changed the date i want the policy to start from today to next month (wich is when im getting the car) and it went from 1,954 to £1,712!!!!
added my mom to policy aswell as its gone to £1,669
thats over £1000 difference just for a few tweaks! crazy!

more monies free to spend on mods! :-D

adding parents onto the policy doesnt change anything other than lower the price!! you still get ncb. and if its been at your address for longer anyway then thats all good.
as regards for your job, im not sure why then even need to know your job.... pointless.

The jobs one confuses me too but these tricks helped me indeed. I understand if you drive for a living they see you as more of a risk I was shocked when I told my insurance company I was a car salesman the following month funnily enough I have changed occupation lol

the job one is relavant as if you work in a pub for example, you are likely to park outside the pub, with drunk people around and possibly drunk drivers.

so more likely to claim apparently.
