evo 8 gear box problem

Hi there can any one help me i have an evo 8 fq300 took it out a blast today gears started to stiffen up now i can't get a gear at all and it stuck in neutral took battery tray out and tried to do it :manually but nothin it s jammed

unfortunatly it sounds like your gearbox is cream crackered....

i assume you have a 6 speed box being an FQ300.

you need to get the car to a specialits to confirm that its knackered.

if it turns out this way there is a few things you can do,,,

either buy a second hand 6 speed box or convert your car to a 5 speed box which is easy to do.

the 5 speed box is a stronger box..

what power is your car?

Here is a relatively simple way to ascertain where the fault lies:

If you switch the engine off and depress the clutch pedal and it does not go into gear then there is problem with the gear box.

If you start the engine, when you depress the clutch pedal and it feels fine then the problem is with the clutch.

If it feels spongy or different to how it was before, there is a problem with the Slave or Master Cylinder.

If you find that the outcome of this test points to the gear box being the issue, it might be a good idea to change the fluid first as a stiff gear box usually means that the fluid is on it's way out, assuming that it has fluid.

Thanks for the replies.

Gearbox oil was renewed within 500mile ago due to a stiff change and did make it better until this week.

As for testing the clutch -- felt fine and was changing off/on boost before this happened. Depressing the clutch feels no different now so i doubt it being the problem unless you know a reason why this would be the case?

Cannot select any gear by hand using the levers on top of the box, i would have thought i could get at least one even if clutch the issue.

5 speed box looking the best option rather than a rebuild. Can anyone confirm the code?

I'm running about 380 @ fly

Any advice welcome.

So have you carried out the tests that I suggested with the engine turned off and on???

I am sure that both Jamie@evotune and John@evobreakers should have the Gear Box that you seek so I guess it may well be PM time right about now.

Yes mate. With the engine off and clutch depressed it will not go into any gear.

I will be in touch with John tomorrow

What was the issue?

My mrs has the same issue today in her fq330.

Will not select gear intermittently!
Stuck in neutral whether the car is on or off.

And finally managed to wiggle it into 3rd and 5th to get home.

I am thinking external linkage?

Maybe at the gearstick end?

Any ideas?
