hi all.
i have an evo 8 MR FQ-320. obviously comes with brembo front pads which i now need to change and was wondering what you lot have been putting on yours? do you keep to the brembo pads or have you found any other makes to be better value and performance etc. if i dont have to spend the money on the brembos i wont but at the same time if they are the best i will get some more. many thanks

most people tend to go for either performance friction or xp8.

although performance friction pads will only really work well on the same discs or brand new discs.
i found out the hard way after fitting the pads to 2 month old discs, i get quite bad brake judder at anything over 70 so i am saving for the discs now :(

oh rite ok thats good to know. the discs are fairly new on the car (couple of months old) so will only change the pads.

if you decide to go for the performance friction on those discs just make sure you clean everything meticulously. especially the discs to get all the old pad deposits off.

if you are only using it on the road and not too fast all the time then brembos would be fine. im not sure how much they cost but i presume they are quite cheap.

For that price mate get xp 8's. They are ment to be an awesome pad and will work with any disc. Will be the next pad on my list. or maybe ebc blue stuff heard good thing's about them to :)

mintex pads are crap. you can get a set for about £40 which says it all really.

discs wise i wouldnt go for drilled as they tend to crack for one reason or another. better off just grooved or dimpled.

there are alot of mixed reviews on the ebc blue stuff. some rave about them and others say they take alot of pedal pressure before you feel any bite.

i am also looking at xp8s purely because performance friction discs are about £1100 all round and would be cheaper to change pads.

mintex do a whole load of pad's from oe to a race pad's. Yes your right some are cheap but the good one's are about £100ish for front's. Hear want your saying about the blue's to! Think we need a bit more feed back on them. So a guess xp8's is the safe but very good choice. :)

So the xp8's will fit directly on to my evo without any alterations? Have no idea about this sort of thing but cAn see they aren't identical shape to the brembos

yes mate. Take the two pin's out at the back of your bembo's the old pad's will pull straight out, slide your new pad's in replace the two pin's and safely clip's. Job done will take all of about hour! With most time taking the wheels off lol. :)
