Evo 8 260 GSR

Hey everyone, i have recently bought an evo 8 260 gsr, i am a complete blank when it comes to anything to do with modifying cars so my question may be silly to most people but here goes, im looking to modify the car slightly but dont want to affect MOT testing in any way, can anyone advise what mods i can put on and what is best. i was looking to replace the standard BOV with a louder one (to atmosphere i believe it is) but im not sure if it is a straight swap or it will cause problems or which one to purchase, any help anybody can give will be greatly appreciated.

what mods have you already got?
Replacing the bov, more than likely you'll have to get your car mapped due to engines tending to stall with aftermarket bovs when changing gear!!

hi, i will get some pictures up just shortly, i currently have no mods on it at all it is completely stock, i have read that a dual vent bov may prevent the stalling issue you are reffering to, is there any truth in that?

possibly. I'm sure one of the others will be able to confirm

Thanks, i was looking at exhausts, the standard one has a low rumble to it but nothing as loud as an aftermarket one, i read that the 260 has a different angle of pipe somewhere which means using different parts which will not allow a cat somewhere to be replaced for mot, i would obviously like to avoid that scenario as much as possible. there are so many things i could do to it but having never really modified a car before im just gonna plague people with silly questions haha:razz:

mine started off as a 260 and pretty much all the parts are interchanged able with the other evos, the exhaust bit your on about is the downpipe rear flange is rotated different to other models but if you replace the exhaust from the turbo back then you'll be fine.

as sadi,
induction kit, BOV exhaust are a good starting point,
if you want go go further then walboro fuel pump , re map etc

Thanks for the advice guys, its being really helpful. id rather get the advice from people who have done it and know what they are doing rather than me just plonking bits on it and it goes horribly wrong.

Thats perfect, thats the problem i was reading about, which DV would you suggest for me to change it to. i have read about the APS and the turbosmart BOV's, has anyone had any experience with them and which is better, i was under the impression that if i put one of those on the car it would have to be in conjunction with higher boost or something but i have read that they also work no problem with standard engine, but as i say i am very new to this and appreciate any advice given.
