Evo 7 RS2 5th gear crunch

Can anyone help me out, my evo 7 has an annoying crunch when shifting into 5th when warmed up. Doesnt do it when cold or when shifting real slow. Have read that it could be clutch but all other gears are fine. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Swap the cog with reverse so crunches in reverse instead of 5th. That's the cheapest fix

It sounds like a worn syncro on 5th gear.

Syncro!! Can have it repaired but its costly as there's lots of labour

Happened to mine and was the syncro, 5th went first then started to get same thing in 2nd gear too.
I went for a second hand gear box as was the quickest solution for me at the time as I use the evo every day. Ended up going for the Evo 9, 6 speed gear box conversion in mine.
