Evo 7 gear box

Hi all,having a little problem with the dreaded 5th gear crunch at the minute with the mrs fq300. Its fine off boost and upto 60mph but then it starts to crunch.
Had it looked at and had the oil changed but its still there. The bloke also said 3rd feels like the syncro is on its way out also. Said it would be around £400 to repair/replace 3rd and 5th :shock: does this sound like a decent price?
Or maybe some nice person on here has a really cheap box up for sale lol

I had 3rd gear crunch on my VII. You couldn't hear it but 3rd gear felt weird through the stick.

That was over a year ago and was still going untill it was written off by its new owner

I'd get it done by a proper evo specialist. Might as well get a full re-furb with the replacement of the sync's.

does that quote inc removing the box???? if so thats a great price. get it in a written quote and go for it lol. to get it done right with a full rebuild 400 is no where near.

mine crunches in 2nd and 5th

5-spd box with only 30k miles done on the car.

I fear when I get it in that the oil change will not help and can see me having to have the same thing done.

I too was wondering who could do it
