evo 6 or not what do you think

hello i am looking for a evo 6 gsr as my first evo and i would really like some advice i have funds in place and do not want to be landed with a dog so any advice, common faults what to look for would be a great help i am a mechanic so i know the genaral things to look for but i am not offay with these beasts

Personally I love the 6. Would be where my money went.

As for issues, AYC can be problematic. Brakes, Clutch, smoke and service history. The same as any high performance turbo car.

Just check all the mechanics very well...

A safer bet would be an evo 3 in my humble opinion.
why?
NO AYC!
NO EXPENSIVE NAGGING PROBLEMS HERE AND THERE!
270 HORSES IS ENOUGH FOR DAILY USE.
RELIABLE CARS WITH NOT MUCH TO GO WRONG ON THEM.
YOU CAN EASILY PICK ONE UP FOR AROUND £2500 to £3300
IT WILL PUT A SMIL;E ON YOUR FACE.

Check out piston heads classifieds. Theres an N REG up for £2750 thats totally standard dubbed as "the cheapest N REG on the market" lol! Its had all the belts / oils changed just now too. so expenses will be downsized here.
I noticed a nice 45k evo 3 on an M REG for £2500 aswell that is a fresh import with no UK owner.
worth a look.

What about when the crank goes sideways and you need a new engine?
Sounds expensive to me
Plus you dont get AYC which really makes the evo handle like something else im my mind.

I will still stand by what i have said though and heres why:
Crank going sideways: technically known in the game as "Crank Walk" an end float problem.
how to avoid it? dont press your clutch in on a cold start!
worse case scenario £900 job done.

Evo 6:
AYC pump goes over time, its a fact: £600 parts & labour minimum.
Transfer box problem: £550 parts and labour minimum.
Gears crunching: £600 parts and labour minimum.

to be honest with you, the transfer box is quite good on the 6 but you know how it goes.

as for "handles like something else in mind", your right, it handles like an evo that has no AYC! Good suspension sorts it right out £400 or so......
