Evo 6 engine rattle

HI there, I have a strange rattle sound on my VI, i think its coming from the top end, right hand side near the throttle body but cannot put my finger on it.

The car has 3mm adjusters which i cleaned out last year and refitted. The car also has no lack of power, boosts as it should just this noise that is driving me mad. Oil level is fine, the car is due an oil change but in my 5 years of ownership and servicing i have never experienced this before. Lumpy cams are due to the GSC S1-R's fitted.

I have made a short video of the sound but unsure of how to post this up, ill try.

Any help is super appreciated.

Pop the video up buddy. Top end would suggest lash adjusters but you have done em so...... You say it's only when u drivin it hard?

The car is a toy so is only driven now and again and when im out i do use the car properly yes so driven pretty hard, serviced by myself more than often, i am going to order a new set of adjusters and do an oil change and see if that solves it, bizarre to say the least, sounds awful.

Hello mate, got the news back from the garage and its not good, bearing failure on number 3 so the crank is goosed. On the lookout for a replacement engine in the meantime and going to strip this one and slow time forge it.

Ah well, 5 years and 30,000 miles of 400/400 on the car has been great, this is the first failure!

Gutted for you mate remember the day I got told 1+2 had spun 3 was goin, but in all fairness I got the car back pulled the engine checked the crank and seemed fine pulled it out got it checked and it was fine so he polished it and sent it back, I just replaced all bearings, new belts put back together and here I am 5k later

Certainly is a bugger, ca has ran 400/400 for the last few years brilliantly as well. My crank is definitely needing a regrind so i am just in the process of sourcing a bottom end so i can get the car running with a view to forging it later on when i can afford it.

Glad yours wasnt too bad, kinda thought mine would be though as the car is now 12 years old and has been to the ring, not to mention several trackdays etc, she has served me well.
