evo 6 conversion

hi all not sure if this has been covered or not so here goes...

as some of you are aware i am in the middel of doing an evo6 conversion on my 4 what im wanting to know is this....

since i have fitted the body panels i have noticed that it looks a little weird as the wheels do not fill the arch's so what i want to know is can i get around this by fitting wider wheels or is there more to it than that??

i have a set of advans on it at the moment but they are abit narrow so im looking to changing them also in conjuntion with using wheel spacers are there any downfalls to using them and also which ones would you recomend

Evo 4 wheels are a different offset to the wheels so get yourself some later Evo wheels or something aftermarket but from a later Evo.

You will prob have to trim the rear arches though cos obviously the wheel and tyre will be sat further out than the original wheels so they will rub but the plastic arch will hide the trim but just be careful not to separate where the inner arch meets the rear quarter

or try your local wheel shop they will beable to get them for you as lee said tho they may rub on the arches

the other thing u could do is change to evo 5/6 hubs anyway not sure if drive shafts are longer someone else can answer that

its ok i have been looking into changing the hubs the fronts can be done without modding but i i do the rears then i need a rear subrame of an evo 5-6 then i will have to have the subframe mounts cut of the chassie and move 10mm further out so abit of a pain really so was looking for an easier soloution think im best getting a bigger ofset then if they still dont fill the arch then get some 5-10mm hubcentric spacers..

I'm sure most of the difference is in the wheel offset. We put a set of VIII MR wheels on my mates Evo IV but has to reduce the tyres from a 235/45 to a 215/45/17 and roll the lip of the arches back cos of rubbing issues on the rear.

cool so itake it what you are saying is if i use a different ofset then there is no need to worry about the track diference between the two cars..

wheels are certainly going to help you out alot mate and alot easier than swapping hubs and stuff cos im not sure if there is any difference in them anyway.

to give you an idea here are some pics of my mates old IV. as said we reduced the tyres form 235 - 215 and rolled the arches. you can see the stretch on the tyres in some of the pics

cheers mate looking at the pics it certainly helps with what i had in mind.. ie. brings the wheels out further for a more aggressive look think thats the route i am going to go for...

ah yes remember now saw those pics once already there is a guy on mlr that has converted his iv to a v contact him mate

think in this pic its still on the standard 235/45/17 tyres and you can see they stuck out past the line of the rear arches
