Evo 5! Uk To Nurburgring!!

Heading to the ring for the first time in sept! I know all questions will of been asked and answered but now I'm asking them hoping for some fresh info advice!!

Heading to Dover from Manchester, I'm estimating 5hrs (night time driving) I'm hoping to do it in a tank and a half?? Say £100 to be safe! Then from Dunkirk to ring another 5hr ish so another £100 in fuel!

Car is mapped and I do like the loud pedal but I will cost me £££ Everytime I squirt it, so 70mph most of the way will be the target! Same home I'm guessing!

Now any roads places to avoid or not to miss?? I'm doing 4 days, fri-mon and there's 3 of us! So far I've been told about my French bull shit travel kit I need headlight stickers and to try stay out of France as much as poss! Belgium is slower with a bit of traffic but moves steady not like uk roadworks!?

Been the last few year it's amazing.

How come you didn't go the hull way? Much much easier and less mileage.

My advise would be to not budget on fuel lol.

I'd imagine you will get 180-200 miles a tank going steady at 65-70mph. Not much point in blasting about you'll do plenty at the ring.

Can't advise too much on what you've asked as I didn't travel that way. IV only ever bought a GB badge nothing else ha.

Coz it's an overnight ferry and I won't make it out of Amsterdam if I go that way!!

Same neck of woods! It's like £250 return that way on ferry plus fuel so itl work out a similar price, but all Night a on ferry! Think id rather drive down to Dover through the night! Where abouts are you from?

The ferry is right laugh buddy, it's not a crappy thing like you'll be on from Dover either it's spacious and has food, entertainment, bar etc etc usually a smooth ride across too. Your own cabin to sleep through the night.

We just sit in the bar, drink, and perv if there's any fitties in the entertainment

It works out good money if you have two to a cabin, even with two cars. For future reference ring them up and get prices they will do it cheaper.

I'm near Doncaster work in Leeds.

You'll enjoy it either way though it's amazing. Make sure you get into pistenklaus restaurant and have the Argentinian steak on a stone!

Already booked in pistkenklause been told about the steak on a stone! That's the way most people I know go from these ways, I can always try overnight ferry next time! Thanks for your help! Anything I need to know when I'm there what will I need?? Spare tyres / pads??

It's surprisingly easy on the tyres and pads to be honest. It's quite a fast flowing track not so much hard on the brakes and tyres.

If you have a ps3/4 and gran tourismo, get practicing! It's very different to the game in real life obviously, but you will know the track better for it.

Just watch em and learn where the track goes. Watch your mirrors too as ZEE Germans know the track like the backs of their hands and will fly up behind you like your stood still!

Think you just phone your insurance and let them know your driving to Europe/Germany

Your not covered on the nurburgring at all though.

IV never reserved a place just turned up

You'll be fine mate, I've seen one car get pulled on sound.

It can only happen at the start line too on idle.

The car I saw was a old porche that was soooo loud on idle it was a joke :disgusted:

If you have a bung take it but it's only a just in case thing 99% sure you'll be fine.


I did a quick google and European breakdown cover is easy to get, do a few quotes and watch the small print.

Just show the track respect take it steady if you don't know where your going.

Watch your mirrors for fast moving Germans lol.

Drop the tyre pressures!! If it's warm weather this will be a must! And it's easy to forget. Depending on what pressures you run something like 28psi rear 30psi front will see you right.

Don't get caught in a battle trying to keep up with those Germans if you don't know the track, nearly got caught out on my 1st visit just before carrousel on the 2012 vid doesn't look like much but it was close!

You'll be nervous on your way onto the track, but it's one of the best highs ever by the time you finish a lap

When I go next, I'll be going with my helmet and racing gloves. Mainly the gloves as the hands get very sweaty! Get some bought if you fancy it, think I got some cheap omp gloves from eBay.

whats a rough cost fuel wise per lap my 9 is running 420/420.

Whenever I've been I've not really budgeted on fuel,

If I was too I would assume 100miles a tank thrashing it.

Each lap 12 miles so 8 laps a tank

Very rough quotes there though lol

As it's first time too, don't be tempted to go straight out for another lap. Come in chill out let the car cool then consider it.

I'm gutted coz I doubt I'll get a chance this year, next year for sure though. Been 3 years on the trot now.
