Evo 5 RS Revving Issue

Hi everyone, I've noticed that on several occasions over the past few months that when accelerating harder than normal that when hitting the 4000rpm mark in anything but 1st gear that my engine just revs but I have no power. Whereas if I accelerate at a steady pace that the car will accelerate without any issues. Just wondering if anyone would know what would be causing this? I thought that it may be the Gear Box, but one of my mates said it was more likely the clutch plate. I've never been mechanically minded and this is the 1st issue that I've ever had with my Evo and don't know where to start. Any help or advice would be REALLY appreciated.

yea sounds like clutch is on its way out dont forget to replace thrust bearing and spigit in flywheel at the same time

If that's the case, could anyone recommend a decent clutch thats not overly priced? As I'd rather get it sorted sooner than later. :\

what power are you running with your car and how "harsh" do you drive it

Its running about 330bhp, I put my foot down every now n then but I wouldn't say that I'm overly aggressive with my Evo. I just like to appreciate her power every now and then

would most likely just recommend a exedy OE replacement kit then as its cheaper that say a helix kit, which we sell at around £520, an exedy wil set you back around £400, let me know if you would like a quote on anything though as i can get pretty much anything for you

ahh, ok. That just a street clutch then as I don't think that I would benefit from anything higher rated. Someone above mentioned about replacing the spigit in flywheel as well.

spigit and thrust bearing comes with clutch kit most times and martin is a a1 bloke to deal with cant do enough to help you i find to be honest
