Evo 5 Re-build, running in

Hey guys, just got my car back after a full engine re-build and now time to run it in, only done a couple short trips probs about 20 miles since getting it back and all is good, ive turned off the actuator so doesnt run on the turbo to avoid over use of parts, thing is im meant to be driving it from Edinburgh to Stoke-on-Trent tomorrow but not sure if the motorway miles (360 or so one way) will do my car any good. Can anyone give me any advice please?
Mechanic said its not a good idea to drive it so far away and best to run in going up and down the gears but im not sure and dont want to damage my car again. Any help would be great..... thanks..... :hm:
