Hi guys need some advice!
Looking at taking the Evo off the road for a weekend come end of Jan sometime.

Everything underside to be replaced with new parts.
Basically what's my best option for mounts, linkages, rods, bars etc - do I aim for standard or pollybush all?

I will be fitting new organic clutch, new engine, prop and diff mounts along with a full service, disc, pads and all four wheel bearings.... Any idea on best place to buy all these parts????

Thnx guys!!

New parts?! Do you know how much stuff is underneath the car? Why not get the originals blasted and powder coated :s Seems needless amount of money for a 5. Or you just haven't really thought about the cost implications.

As Steve says, that is a lot of monies worth of parts and perhaps not all needed. See what condition they are and you maybe able to spruce them up.

If you are replacing them though, try some of the breakers on here, or for brand new, look at the camskill website, they do a lot of parts.

suspension polly bush kit is around 4-500 if i remembed and some of them art really worth doing cos alot of the bushes on the rear are actually designed to move a certain amount. polly bushing these would restrict the movement they are supposed to have.

for example the rear lower arms have 3 bushes, inner outer and shock mount. the iner and outer are a spherical joint and ARE meant to move.

these can be changed and probably cheapest and best way to do it is with genuine and polly bushes are so dam hard and are more so for all out track motors.

best place to get them would be camskill Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 1(I) 2(II) 3(III) 4(IV) 5(V) 6(VI) 7(VII) 8(VIII) Parts, Tuning, Spares & Accessories EVO 5 6 CP9A - Suspension - Misc

they do suffer with anti roll bar bushes and top mounts from time to time up front.

the inner and outer lower arm rear bushers are designed to move and hard to detect movement as it is a rosejoint. best way to check them is to remove the lower shock mount bolt and the outer bolt and allow the arm to swing down to centre of the car. you can get a good feel of the inner and outer bushes then cos any abnormal movement will be very very minor but coud be enough to give a slight knocking noise.

there are 4 camber adjusting bolts on the rear so if you remove these you might need to replace them due to the shocking threads and youll also need to do a 4 wheel alignment :)

Problem is, there are loads of people out there that think their 5's are solid underneath until they remove the underseal and find it puts the titanic to shame.

you might wanna waxoil the underside too while you are there cleaning it all up :)

As mentioned, fully poly-bushing might be a little overkill but agree knocking and whining noises are not nice!

Good luck and get plenty of piccies up when you do the work!

If you want it as a fast road car DON'T polybush it, unless you love excessive road noise and the car twitching at any bump in the road. Get the full ralliart bush set :)

Also some rubber bushes may appear perished but are perfectly servicable for some time to come. Best check to see if there is any excess movement in them. Another downfall of poly bushes is they can be bloody hard to fit as well!

In what way are they hard to fit?

Obviously because they are stiffer than your standard rubber items they dont have as much flex! so if your pressing a bush in for example rubber will flex to the shape it has to go through which polyutherane wont! hence making them a bit of a night mare, but my experience of them is on vw's but a bush is a bush isn't it!
