My personal opinion would be a 6 as I really like the school boy styling on them and the subtle differences finish the package for me.
Never heard of the gearbox being weak on 5s?
The changes between them aren't huge to be honnest. Id find a very good example of either and go with that!

Tax is £185.

thanks for the info,

is there anythin i should be checking in particular when i go to view an EVO? like any common probs i should be lookin out for?

also wot kinda price would u expect to pay for either a 5 or 6? iv seen them both around the 6K mark but then there is also a few 6's that are over 10K

as far as servicing goes the main point is the oil in the diff's is that correct?

sorry for all the questions im just trying to get my head round exactly wot i should be checking as i have never owend a 4 wheel drive or even a turbo car before lol

AYC can be problematic. Breaks, Clutch, smoke and service history. The same as any high performance turbo car.

The TME 6 will be the top of the price range but others will be between 4 and 10k depending on condition and work done. Id be looking to spend 6 to 7k on an above average 6.

ahhh i see ok so wots the tell tail signs of something wrong with 1 of those and how do i check it? if thats possible?

is there any particular noise i should listen out for with anything?

also im guessin if there is alot of smoke then thats a tell tail sign of a turbo charger problem? although i no smoke can mean alot of dif things aswell.

The easy way is the light on the dash. Next is to make a slow tight turn and listen for a squeek or squeel from the rear diff area.
Then you can find an empty round about and chuck it in and see if it changes direction well. Just be carefull with this one.

Blue smoke is oil, black is fuel and white is water.
Black and white can be normal at specific times.

My advice would be to try to get someone who knows cars well to take a look. We can give you advice but experiance is what you need. I still take a second pair of eyes with me when looking at cars!
