This will all depend on the condition of your bores and crank journals i have in the past on other vehicles just removed the head and sump and protected the crank and honed the bores to bust the glaze and fitted new pistons rods and bearings.

But doing the above you MUST make sure its all very clean before fitting the bearings and new parts as any debris will result in failure.

But ultimately its all down to the condition of your bores and crank journals. Some bores may look round but are infact oval and new rings will not seal correctly on them and then you will have to remove the block and have a 0.5 overbore done to correct the bores and i personally always have the block face re-faced. Also when fitting the pistons pay attention to ring gaps and ALWAYS gap the rings per bore as you will get very minimal machining intolerance so if you gap 3 rings for cylinder one they need to be fitted to cylinder 1 piston.

If you are spending good money on internals i would recommend removing the engine and building the unit that way you can plastiguage the crank and check all clearances and any problems there can then be rectified with either a regrind ( which im not keen on ) or a replacement crankshaft

Hope that helps

Pistons and rods can be changed with the crank still in, heads do have to come off. Crank is ok on IV for 340 but can get crank walk, which is a 50/50 chance if doing more mods would fit Evo VIII crank with rods and pistons would be better.

thay come prea filled with oil i was told to put them in full of oil

No i would pop them out and bleed them of by putting a paperclip down the middle and before you go to remove them test to see if there is any you can push down easy with your finger if you can it will need replacing ( even new parts can sometimes fail ) it will be rattly on initial start up but will quieten down

You sure the internals are 100% standard as piston slap can occur on some aftermarket pistons

Also may sound silly but are the injectors nice and quiet as some injectors can be very noisy
