as already said you can just press in the 7 8 9 roll center lower ball joints in to the 4 5 arms and drill out the hub to take the bigger pin to get it lower .
its droppin the track rod ends to the right angle thats the issue

Just got to match the difference that the kits make.

I've got a feeling those rose jointed tie rod ends bolted on top and a IX ball joint kit will do enough of a job to do this.

My main concern is how long those tie rod ends will last for?

Ideally need to measure how much of a difference is made to a IX tie rod end and try and match that with the rose joint on our cars.

the thing is its not just about mounting the t rod under the arm thats easy .

lets say it drops the lower arm by a 15 to 20mm and we need to drop our t rod ends the same then that would put the t rod in the middle of the arm :0(

ive been looking at oe fitment t rods for different cars and some step down in a s shape . ie mazda mx5 .

so am gonna look round and see whats available or what could be made simular

I was still thinking of mounting on top with the tie rod end.

I just figured it wouldn't be that far away as the mounting point is stairght to the rose joint, not L shaped like the originals?

I haven't got any to hand but I recon you could guesstimate by measuring how much higher the tie rod arm is with the standard set up then if it went straight above the joining point?

That may have made no sense lol.

spacers that drop or raise the t rod at the rack to save moving the t rod end :0)


have also been told the lower ball joints are between 15 and 20mm lower ? would be good to know exactly :0)



they also talk about the rear roll centre adjusting on other sites ... but never heard any one talk about it in relations to evo's ??????

found this interesting ,

esp the part that when you change the caster the height of the track rod changes . in the case of the evo more caster you run the more it should drop the track rod down, in theory :O)

im also lead to believe from the link above that the whiteline roll centre ajuster ball joints are only around 1/4 inch taller than the standard joints ,no where near as much as i originaly thought they would be ??

well i forgot all about this thread till i was looking at some old pics on my pc .

all measurments are from memory so check your own parts and numbers :0)

i ordered and fited a 7~9 white line roll centre kit . about 16mm drop . didnt use the track rod ends



both the lower arm and hub need modding .

the lower ball joint in the 4 is around 1/2mm narrower than the 7 , so once pressed out the hole in the arm needs to be made 1/2mm wider . 40mm the 7 ball joint being 40.5mm wide remember its a press fit .

the main body of the 7 joint is longer so the slot for the c clip is 4mm higher-up meaning a 4mm spacer is needed .

the main mounting hole on the 4 hub is also to small for the 7 joint and needs to be made 2mm bigger and offset so it starts at the edge of the oe hole closest to the pinch bolt slot so that the pinch bolt slot in the joint and the hub can line up .

i also found the slot in the joint for the pinch bolt was not quite deep enough and needed to be depend around 1/2mm .

i coulded use the track rod ends from the kit as they fit the wrong way round but as of yet i have not needed to change mine as ive not suffered from any major bump steer issues :0)

all feels good and the car felt more stable and planted in the corners
