I am looking at a Evo 4, can someone tell me what a evo 4 engine is worth with 75k on the clock?
also what would it cost to fit a ecu+ injector +remap to a evo 4 and what sort of power is safe?
Cheers

Stage 1 power upgrades 4-9 - Evo Owners Forum

Should help with most questions you have.
Regards to fitting parts and mapping, where are you and do you have the parts already?
Evo 4 engine not worth much due to the crank walk possibilities... People scared of buying them...

Yes i understand that they suffer from crankwall.
I am thinking about buying a evo 4 just want to get a idea about the evo 4 as i don't know to much about them. I will have the ecu and injectors just wanted a rough price to fit and map.
I down in sunny Cornwall.

As rob said they generally dont go for anywhere near as much as newer engines because people are scared off by the horror stories. That said mines done over 120,000 miles and is still going strong.

Have you changed the ecu ect? how does your 4 handle?
I owned a few evos but never a 4. Just trying to get a bit of a idea about them. I just want a cheep track/sprint car.

Ive not changed the ecu & injectors. Thats on the to do list if i decide to keep it. Ive turned the boost up and thats about it. I guess it handles like a 5 or 6 aswell, maybe not quite so stable due to the slightly narrower track, id be suprised if its noticeable though. Ive never driven any evo other than a 4 in anger so couldnt really tell you the difference.

Handling is on a par with the 5/6 with std setup. The wider track and tyres are negligible unless pushing to the very limit.
Handling is always down to your setup...
Fitting I would guess around 1hr labour plus mapping cost.

Here is my estimated costs to map properly

Used japspeed 3" cat back £85
Evo 6 ecu & 560cc injectors £160
Good induction kit £100
3 ports boost solenoid £50 -£100
Uprated fuel pump £76-£155 plus fitting
Mapping session £350 quote from evo tune

I was quoted by evo tune for drive in drive out service £1096 supply & fit plus mapping of all above done ( exh was a used item )
I haven't had it done as I can do all but the mapping my self & save 300 in labour
