Evo 4 ECU

I have a jdm evo4. What are the ecu tuning option on that ecu?
I know about switching it to a 5 or 6 ecu because the 4 can't be flashed.
But does that mean no one tuned any evo4 ecu's until the 5 came along?
I'm trying to figure out if anything has been done to mine.
I peeked at it yesterday and it is the 4ecu with the metal case. I did notice someone scribbled with red marker on the top and sides.
I'll try and get some pictures maybe later.
can they be chipped or modded or anything done?

What does the writing say mate? What colour are the injectors? If it had been mapped it is more than likely the injectors would have been uprated. The newer ecu boards will fit into the metal 4 case so it is possible the writing is a note that it has been changed?
I dont know for sure if the 4 ecu is mappable at all, but it is definatly the easiest and most common route to replace with a newer one.

as far as im aware the four ecu can not be played with i have an apexi power fc with comander in my four so ecu been binned

Chip in the 4 ecu is not rewritable...
Not sure if it can have an Ostrich emulator or similar fitted...
At the cost of altering it you may aswell buy a 5/6 ecu...
Take it out and check the board. Easily removed from case, 7202 chip

the mark on top looks like nothing or maybe a japanese character. on the side the 4794 has been crossed with a line.
I see that someone had connected something to pin 85,86 then removed it. pressure, speed.
It's all just guess work for now. I'm not going to pull it just yet.
Injectors are yellow stock.

As said only way to tell is to open the case. You can't do anything with the 4ecu but is easy swap to the 5 and later ones

engine managment light

engine managment light came on and losed power to my evo 4 when i turned it of then back on it went off. when started it seemed ok.does anyone know what problem was
