Evo 4 Delimiter/Speedo converter

I've gone and bought one of those little chips you find on Ebay for £25, that removes the Japanise speed limit and to convert it into MPH. Easy to follow instructions and with my abilities thought it would be a good idea to have a go!

Got the chip this morning instruction are very simple on thing is i can't find or tell which is the speed sensor??????

Instructions go like this - Locate the speed sensor that is located behind the engine on the right hand side box and is identified by having a 3 pin plug connected to it!

Now am i being a complete Numpty and its right infront of me or i'm looking in the wrong place?

Please can anyone help???

should imagine it would be on the back or top of the gearbox fella mite have to move intercooler pipe for a better view unless you have little arms

Better, to fit these to the wiring of the ECU then all the wires you need are are together. And your little chip is inside the car.

Find an ECU diagram for your model and give it a go. Be careful though, dont cut ecu wiring untill you're sure you got the right one...

I wired one of these to mine and it works well checked the conversion with Sat nav and bang on. The sensor is on the gearbox at the top near the firewall. I found it using pics from net.

Only if they have a 5/6 ecu fitted. Thread says Evo 4

Hi, I used one of these 'little chips' and used on both my Evo4 and Evo5. They work just fine. They don't actually remove the limiter they simply trick the car into thinking its travelling kph when it's actually doing mph. So the speed limiter (set in japan at 180kph/112mph) is simply moved to 180mph instead. Which I think you agree is fast enough...
You will have to download a diagram for your ecu wiring so you can locate the speed signal wire to the ecu, cut it and splice in the little 'chip'. (Along with a 12v and ground signal.) done.

It is crude,but it works . I have a 260kmh set of clocks so i Didnt Need it.

Locate the speed Sensor on the Box..well All speed sensors ate driven off the diff on older cars,so Look on TOP of the gearbox ,there are Two plugs. The one further towards the bulk head is the One you want,the one towards the front of the car is for the reverse light switch.

So basically crawl onto the passenger side of the engine bay ,locate the camsensor on the front of the cylinder head, follow the lead back down over the Box,youll find the speed Sensor as its in the same loom
